American Sports Data, Inc. was founded by its current president, Harvey Lauer, in 1983. Prior to forming ASD, Mr. Lauer was Senior Research Analyst at the Public Agenda Foundation, a public policy research organization founded by Daniel Yankelovich and Cyrus Vance in 1975. A former Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army, Mr. Lauer holds a Master’s degree in psychology from the New School for Social Research.
A leading authority on the subject of sports and fitness participation, he has appeared on radio and television, written numerous articles and essays, and is the author of The New Americans: Defining Ourselves through Sports and Fitness Participation, scheduled for publication in 2006.
